Outdoor Source Magazine

The launch and implementation of the Outdoor Source Magazine property actually integrated quite a few applications and design work here.

Outdoor Source Magazine is a new online publication that covers a wide array of outdoor activities. There was a need to implement multiple community-type applications. The main aspect of the site is a variety of articles geared towards providing information to visitors and users of the site. This information is geared to assist people in getting the most out of their outdoor experiences. This information is to be (for the most part) fairly static in nature. For example, the paddling techniques for kayaking have changed little in the last several hundred years, with the exception of a few new pieces of equipment designed to make paddling more efficient. These elements within the site are not to change frequently.

Other aspects of the site are to be dynamic -- for example, a great place to have fun in July in August is the Lehigh River to have a family rafting adventure (and especially fun in May, when the ice melt raises the river -- although at that time, it's not a family trip). A family rafting trip in January probably isnt the greatest thing for you to be doing. This requires that the information be a bit more dynamic in nature. In addition, there are a lot of news and pieces of information that need to be efficiently sent out to readers and users of the site. In addition, a great feature of many outdoor sites is the community aspects of the sites. Allowing certain visitors/users of the site to add in their own content -- from information to photographs -- makes for a fun and sticky web site.

Here's what had to be done:
A hosting facility that allowed for the implementation of applications was required.

Since the site was generated from scratch, a design had to be created (or obtained).

Photo and Blog applications had to be evaluated and eventually implemented.

A monetization strategy needed to be developed.

All of the above was completed in a matter of 3 days (actually a total of 9 hours) for a direct cost of $70 [this is a High Peak Media developed property, your costs would be higher since HPM does not charge itself labor.]
